How inconsiderate of me!

Y’know, I’d have to say it’s kinda stupid of me how in a blog where much of my blathering is going to be on matters spiritual, to assume that every Christian is going to have a link in his browser bookmarks to the absolutely wonderful Bible search site Bible Gateway. I feel that I must put a link to that site in my sidebar. Look for it on your right, under its own category, “Bible Study”.

This blog of mine is an ever evolving experiment. I very nearly put a Sonific Songspot into my sidebar, too. But then I learned that it’s going to be leaving the Interwebs for good on May 1. You would not have enjoyed it for long.

My church, Christian Assembly of Columbus, OH runs an arts school called the Charisma Centre for the Arts. It teaches mostly dance and music and some graphic art on the side, but I also feel it should expand into teaching writing, particularly subjects useful for writing blogs, such as how to use blog sites and blog software, and digital photography and citizen journalism. I don’t feel, however, that I should voice this desire without being prepared to volunteer to bell this cat. I’ve learned quite a bit on my own, but is it enough to teach classes? Not only that, I’ve never been a teacher before.

This is also going to require our church to equip a classroom with computers and Internet connectivity. How are we going to do it? Are we going to do the bare minimum of running a wireless router to one of Charisma Centre’s classrooms? Should we get us a copy of WordPress 2.5.1 and run it on the church’s server? How much interest is there in writing blogs? There is much research to be done.

I think it’d be good for our senior pastor to write a weekly blog as well. But I digress. There has been, I think, too much spouting off at the keyboard (not that I don’t enjoy it) and not enough reading. There’s a certain two bloggers I’d like to read more of before I start down that road.

  1. In some ways I think churches have missed the boat as far as the importance the Internet plays in our faith, in fact I just finished up the first part of a three part post on that over on my http://d.amasc.us blog but I realized once I started writing it, it could go on forever.

Nice post, just found your blog, will rss it on my end, thanks.
